Beyond the BedSOLO EXHIBITION BEYOND THE BED July 2006
I was invited to exhibit my quilts at the Stone Gallery in Paddington Sydney as part of the Omega Ensemble Music Meets Art Series. This was my first solo exhibition.
The Stone Gallery is in the foyer of the beautifully restored Paddington Uniting Church which was built of large sandstone blocks and very high ceilings. There was an entrance door in the the centre and doors at either end which are not used so we could cover them. This was useful as I actually found I had many more quilts than space to hang them.
Where do you start?

The ceilings were very high but had hanging cords but they were very tangled and took ages to unravel. Patient man in photo is my long suffering but always supporting husband Peter

Still going and going and going....

It is a good thing neither of us has vertigo

Now starting to come together but still a way to go

Finally after about 6 hours we felt it was finished! It was a wonderful exercise and an amazing feeling of pride and achievement to see so much of my work hanging in one place

Can't say it was an outrageous commercial success but a wonderful experience and something to add to my resume
